Seniors and Juniors are allowed two days per school year of excused absences to allow for an on-campus college visit and/or job shadow experiences.
*Seniors and Juniors who do not have excessive absences or unexcused absences and are eligible for graduation by the end of their respective academic year are allowed these two days. Following the procedures listed below, these absences will be marked excused on their attendance and will not count against their total absence count.
College Visit/Job Shadow Procedure

-
Arrange a campus visit/job shadow experience with the college or employer of your choice.
-
Parents/guardians must call in to excuse the student for this visit prior to absence.
-
Students need to get a blue slip from the senior high office. Students are responsible for any work missed that day.
-
Come to the counseling center to obtain campus visit/job shadow materials needed prior to going on visit. (If you forget your form at school/home, the necessary forms are below for you to download and print.)
-
Students must return completed campus visit/job shadow materials within one week of the visit to the counseling center in order to be marked excused for that day.

For College Visits - Many colleges will schedule large group visits on Saturdays, but you can also schedule a visit during the week and experience campus when classes are in session. You will have a chance to meet with admissions personnel, faculty from a department of interest, and tour the campus. Campus visits should be set up with the college's recruitment/admissions office. They will schedule you for a tour and arrange appointments with the appropriate individuals.

Some colleges also offer Virtual Tours. Local Example: Valley City State University Virtual Tour
